New Luxury Bürgenstock Ferry Sails on Lake Lucerne
By Justine Tyerman
A gleaming white futuristic vessel is plying the tranquil waters of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.
The Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort’s magnificent new $6 million, state-of-the-art, luxury catamaran, commissioned on May 26, was designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co from Bremerhaven, one of the world’s most respected yacht designers. The 37-meter all-aluminium hybrid vessel operates on both electricity and diesel and carries 300 passengers on two decks.
The service runs hourly, year-round, from 7am until midnight and takes only 25 minutes from Lucerne to the Bürgenstock funicular terminus.
